Before joining Mungrisdale Writers the only writing I did was related to my work as a social worker. After retirement I decided to explore my longing to be a writer. I was inspired to join Mungrisdale Writers after listening to a programme on Woman’s Hour about the group. My main interest at the moment is writing poetry and prose.

A TREE IN MY GARDEN

There is a tree in my garden
An amelanchier that blossoms in the spring
Its delicate white flowers
Brings the garden awake

An amelanchier that blossoms in the spring
I breathe in its soft aroma that
Brings the garden awake
Blue tits and robins find a resting place

I breathe in its soft aroma from
Its delicate white flowers
Blue tits and robins find a resting place
There is a tree in my garden
