| Synopsis: |
Sally's uncle, George Mallory, was the only veteran of all three 1920s expeditions, on which he was universally considered to be the finest climber. He vanished with Irvine en route to the summit of Everest on June 8, 1924. On May 1, 1999, Mallory's frozen corpse was found at 26,800 feet (8170 m), 75 years after his disappearance. These poems were inspired by an exhibition held at Rheged, Penrith which commemorated this event and George's life. |
