Born Penrith 1929. After a Cumbrian childhood returned in 1969 to escape rat race. Farmed 70 acres of hill land with my husband. Interests over the last four decades: Committee Member, Friends of the Calvert Trust, Cumbrian Rural Choirs, W.I.
My main interest: breeding, showing and judging native ponies.
Married 59 years. Three children. Three adult grandchildren and one afterthought
Started writing prose five years ago, initially to vent my wrath on politicians but have got over that!
Poetry I love but writing it is not really my thing. Whilst guiltily lazing late in bed this morning watching the Andrew Marr programme the phone went and I wrote the following as a starter.

| Shrill, Shrill |
Shrill Shrill
Shrill Shrill
The cup dropped,
splintering,
Sounds in league,
Her mind wavelengthed, fine tuned
to bad news, holding its receiver,
Heart racing, hesitating,
Her Hello tight reined.
