Member Profile for Clare Goulder

Living in the far north of Scotland, and working there as well as Edinburgh and Cumbria, means that I am an occasional member of the group. However, since being persuaded by Angela to join the group in February 2004, I have been well and truly bitten by the writing bug, and will probably have to re-organise my life to make more regular attendance a reality. I love the many and idiosyncratic things that can be done with words, and the creativity that is encouraged within the group

Young Musicians
So young
The fragment of their shells
Discarded on the street
Their newness shines
No downy hint or evening shadow yet

They strut,for they know love,
And passion, rage
So they create and sing
And they have time and they will live forever

And we sit and watch

They barely notice us;
Old folk
Our woeful ignorance and inexperience
A pure embarraseement.

They do not fear the whetstone that we hear;
And unaware how near
The scythe blade whistles past.
