I was led to Mungrisdale Writers by Blue Poppies, a head full of them to be exact. They came to me at a group meditation session at the Findhorn Foundation over a decade ago and their significance has intrigued me ever since. I have grown them in my garden, bought paintings of them at every opportunity and even finalised the purchase of my place of retirement in Wales sipping Earl Grey from a Richmond bone china cup decorated by, yes you've guessed, blue poppies.
It was this obsession combined with my addiction to Ebay which introduced me to Angela Locke and her book; it didn't require much from there to bring me to your portals.
I am an ex teacher of Mathematics and Computer Studies and hopefully, in the not too distant future an ex Director of a Computer Company which specialises in Automation of Testing. This has taken me firmly into the masculine world of Industry, Military and Space Travel. It is time, I feel, to exercise the right hemisphere of my brain which I have doggedly tried to ignore all my life. I have, however, no experience of writing and I have to admit, very little in reading. The only writers that have had any influence on my life are Richard Bach and Kahlil Gibran.
I think that initially I will have to be a "virtual" member but as I have a tiny getaway perched on the cliff at Nethertown I do occasionally traverse the A66. I will try to make sure that next time it is on a relevant Thursday. |
